Size of offline database

We have a number of home users of our BCM 2007 database who sync daily via VPN. Currently our online database is approx 1.5Gb but the offline copies are at 6.3Gb and increasing significantly each day. If we check the databse integrity all seems to be OK. Can anyone advise why this is happening?
