site to site DOD vpn using static routes

Ben Hoffman

I created a dial on demand connection and static route.
From the windows 2000 rras server it works great! When I
sit down at 1 of my windows xp workstations it doesn't
work. My workstations have their gateway set to the rras
server. I even drove to the other location that is setup
similar and I am having the same exact issue there.

Thanks,
Ben Hoffman

Does the other site have a route back to your site configured? Do the
clients/servers at the other site point to the RRAS server at that site for
their default gateway?

What is at the other end? To get site-to-site routing you must have routes
at both ends to send traffic for the "other" subnet trough the VPN link.
This ii best done by linking the routes to the demand-dial interfaces.

If you have done this but the routing isn't working, check that both
demand-dial interfaces actually bind to the connection, and that the routes
are actually added to the routing table when the connection is up.
