I have a current copy of XP Pro SP2 running great. Decided that I would like
to give Vista a whirl and bought Home Premimum. Beautiful system and I was
very happy with it, e.g. it plays really nice with my Xbox360, but I digress.
I kept getting network adapter unplugged or DNS errors from Vista. This
would generally occur after about 20 minutes of activity. The only way to
clear the problem is a full reboot of the DSL modem and the computer. When
this occurs, I even lose connection to Xbox Live on my 360. I thought it was
a modem problem but decided to troubleshoot a little first. I played with
the network settings and reinstalled the default Vista driver. No fix. I
tried checking with both SiS and my motherboard manufacturer ECS and no Vista
drivers are available. So I decided to bite the bullet and reinstalled XP.
Presto, no problems with the network now.
I have noticed this to be a common issue for the SiS 900 and Vista. I am
now trying to setup a dual boot environment with XP first and Vista second
for testing. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
