Thank you; I have now taken windows 7 opff the laptop and reinstalled
windows XP, it is fine.
Have been able to connect to the internet with the ethernet cable via the
router but have not yet managed to get the wireless connection working.
My wife tells me I have spent too much time on it so I guess I shall have to
leave it until to-morrow.
I have tried installing windows 7 into my laptop but find that the drivers
have disappeared.
I can still run either windows xp or windows 7 but no drivers.
To get started I need the driver for my broadband:; details I had printed
from belarc advisor are:-
1394 Net Adapter
IEEE 802.11b MiniPCI Wireless Network Adapter
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
Can anyone point me where to get the correct driver; if I can find it then
I
shall downlaod it to my desktop computer and transfer to the laptop.
MiniPCI wireless network adapter indicates you might be using a
laptop. Check on your laptop manufacturer's web site.
You should also not that several hardware "devices" might not be
support in Windows 7 yet or never depending on the "age" of the
component.
1394 Net adapter is not a true "network" adapter. This is a
Firewire / iLink adapter and is not normally used to connect to any
network.
IEEE 802.11b is an extremely old wireless networking standard. This
has been widely "replaced" with 802.11g wireless networking standard.
Depending on the original MiniPCI wireless adapter manufacturer, they
may never develop any drivers or support for Windows 7.
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter might be a network adapter
built directly onto the "main" board (aka motherboard) of your PC.
You will need to look on the PC's manufacturer's web site and locate
the correct drivers.
PLEASE NOTE:
As with any new versions of Windows released for sale, a lot of PC
hardware may be "rendered" as useless. A number of manufacturer's
decide to abandon their "older" devices so as to concentrate on new
device sales.
