Net driver

Stewart

I have tried installing windows 7 into my laptop but find that the drivers
have disappeared.
I can still run either windows xp or windows 7 but no drivers.
To get started I need the driver for my broadband:; details I had printed
from belarc advisor are:-

1394 Net Adapter
IEEE 802.11b MiniPCI Wireless Network Adapter
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter

Can anyone point me where to get the correct driver; if I can find it then I
shall downlaod it to my desktop computer and transfer to the laptop.

MiniPCI wireless network adapter indicates you might be using a
laptop. Check on your laptop manufacturer's web site.

You should also not that several hardware "devices" might not be
support in Windows 7 yet or never depending on the "age" of the
component.

1394 Net adapter is not a true "network" adapter. This is a
Firewire / iLink adapter and is not normally used to connect to any
network.

IEEE 802.11b is an extremely old wireless networking standard. This
has been widely "replaced" with 802.11g wireless networking standard.
Depending on the original MiniPCI wireless adapter manufacturer, they
may never develop any drivers or support for Windows 7.

SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter might be a network adapter
built directly onto the "main" board (aka motherboard) of your PC.
You will need to look on the PC's manufacturer's web site and locate
the correct drivers.

PLEASE NOTE:

As with any new versions of Windows released for sale, a lot of PC
hardware may be "rendered" as useless. A number of manufacturer's
decide to abandon their "older" devices so as to concentrate on new
device sales.

Thank you; I have now taken windows 7 opff the laptop and reinstalled
windows XP, it is fine.
Have been able to connect to the internet with the ethernet cable via the
router but have not yet managed to get the wireless connection working.
My wife tells me I have spent too much time on it so I guess I shall have to
leave it until to-morrow.

You should still note that "wireless" adapters are, not by default,
automatically installed in Windows XP. You still need to re-install
the required drivers.

I am getting there; now have wireless connection; still need to get a driver
for the sound card and one or two others that are not so important.
I had hoped to find a site that would download drivers but most cost at
least £25 or $29 and I am still searching for such.
Thanks again.

David, I have never posted a question to more than one group and for
computer stuff "msnews.microsoft.com" is the only folder I post to. Is this
wrong?
By the way I cannot access the laptop mfg's web site; the laptop is a Tiny
and was given me by my son when he bought a new one. They are out of
business.
Thank you.

LOL, that's my signature to help the newbies, it's at the end off all my
posts, you'll notice others have one as well.

Google the make & model plus the word drivers and see if you find anything,
what is the model of the laptop?

David, I did that, found a site called gr sales; they had the drivers for
the Tiny LF series laptop so I have now downloaded them and all is well.
Thanks again.
