SiPix printer driver for XP

Needed a cheap way to create quick hardcopy on the road, so bought a
SiPix Printer A6 on eBay.

All eBay vendor listings state it will work with all WIN OS's thru
XP. However, the install disk only has drivers thru 2000. One
vendor's eBay listing has a link to download the 'XP Driver', did
that, but it's just thesame 2000 driver that's on the CD.

Started to install that and got the XP gloom and doom warnings 'Not
Signed', 'Not for XP', etc., so I stopped.

My questions, will installing a WIN2000 driver damage XP? Will it
work? If not, does anyone have another souce I might look to for a
driver for this printer? Tried to find the mfgr's website, but no
luck.

The device connects via InfaRed and serial, but since there is no
serial connector on my laptop, have to go with IR.

Thanks.

Here's an XP driver that might work:

Thanks for your response. That's also the only driver I could find
online. Though they include XP in the title, it is really the same
WIN2000 driver that's on the printer's Install CD.

That's why I also asked if a WIN2000 driver would work on XP, OR, more
importantly, could it do any damage if it didn't work.

Anyone know the answer to that?

It shouldn't do damage and may work. Nothing is 100% though, the
drivers could possibly send an errant code and maybe lock up the
printer, or make a reference to non-existent code in a .dll file. The
printer won't burn up, or short out..

Thank you for the encouragement. I installed the driver, my machine
did not lock-up or die (yet) and the printer did not start smoking, in
fact, it connected via the IR port and VOILA, Windows printed a test
page. Will wonders never cease.

Next thing I need is a pair of magnifying glasses. The entire page is
reduced to fit on 4" wide thermo paper. Talk about fine print. But
it is just what I needed.

Thanks again, and for anyone else who is wondering, this WIN2000
driver worked on an XP machine.

Great news! And thanks for reporting back.
