Single/Double Click is erratic

Compaq PC with wheel mouse running XP. The mouse click is
very erratic...sometimes a single click acts like a double
click. When clicking on drop down menus thay do not stay
open. Lost the ability to highlight multiple cells in
Excel...only selects the cell currently in. The PC was new
18 months ago and this started within the last week. Thanks.

Peter,
I had the same problem recently with my mouse. It turned
out to be a bad switch in the mouse for the left button.
I got a new mouse, and the problem is gone. My mouse
wasn't that old either -- they don't make them like they
used to.
