Since last updates can't receive mails w/o turning off Norton fire

Hi all

Ever since downloading the latest updates a couple of days ago I haven't
been able to download email, with Outlook throwing up error message
0x80042108 for all my POP3 accounts.

However, today it suddenly occurred to me to try turning off my Norton
firewall temporarily - and suddenly it works. Obviously I can't leave it
turned off, so need a solution. Why would my emails suddenly not be able to
get through the firewall? No settings have been changed, and have been using
Norton & Outlook for months.

Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance

yes,
avoid using Norton/Symantec!!

For an excellent a/v product (see consumer reports comparison), try
Kaspersky. It performed much better than Norton.
Trend Micro also did very well in the comparison.

Kaspersky and Trend Micro were the best performers...Norton was horrible
in performance.

Both also come with software firewalls.

good luck,

oskar

This may be a Norton related problem, have you checked the Symantec site for
any updates alerts?
