Conflict with Norton Firewall?

This morning my email was working fine. When I got home from church I was
unable to get my email. This is the message I get:
Task 'Cox email (1) - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook is
unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to
receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service
provider (ISP).' I get a similar message when trying to send.

My ISP says, of course, it is not their fault, and even if it was, they do
not provide support for Outlook. I am running Outlook 2003, have made no
programing additions or deletions. Have unplugged my modem, closed down
Outlook, checked account addresses etc., but nothing helps. I can use
Webmail, but that is not satisfactory.

I turned off my Norton 2005 Firewall, which had been working fine until this
afternoon, and was able to get my email. Obviously this is not a long term
solution. Any ideas?

Congratulations . You have found the solution. Norton is now considered by many as a virus by itself

Well, I did figure out to reset all the defaults per Norton's website and
that seems to have temporarily fixed the problem. It will probably pop back
up sometime in the future - beats me how things can be working one minute and
not working the next.
