Can't SEND e-mail...just RECEIVE!!!???

In the past couple of months, I've suddenly been unable to send e-mail. When
I try, I get the following error message(s):

503 Valid RCPT TO <recipient> must precede DATA

or: 503 No recipient(s).

It does not matter who I enter in the To:, Cc:, or Bcc lines. The message
is always returned undeliverable.

I can't think of any significant events the preceeded this problem. It used
to work fine. I've tried "Detect and Repair". I also uninstalled Microsoft
Office 2003 completely and reinstalled. Still, the same thing happens. My
Norton Anti-virus is turned off for outgoing e-mail (tried with it On/OFF -
no difference).

I tried using my one free attempt with Microsoft tech support, but for some
reason it won't recognize my product ID. My copy is legit and purchased
through Govt Home Use program, so I don't know why it isn't recognized.

I don't have any spyware of viruses running loose on my PC. Also, my
incoming/outgoing POP3/SMTP settings are the same as they've always been.
I've used multiple servers with the same results.

Why doesn't it recognize my addressees? Seems like Outlook or maybe Windows
XP is corrupt. Can anyone help? It's weird.

Thanks

Something is preventing Outlook from sending the correct sequence of
commands, perhaps. Enable diagnostic logging and post the log here. See

If we can't find any clues in the log, the next thing you should try is not
just turning off Norton's mail scanning feature, but uninstalling it
completely and reinstalling it without the mail integration features.
