i have installed sims 2 but it says i need to install direct x . How do i
find out my graphic card manufacturers website?

DirectX is located in the DirectX directory on the first Sims 2 CD.
Right-clicking the CD icon in My Computer - then clicking on browse and
running the setup file in that directory will install DirectX.

http://windows.dasmirnov.net/guides/hardware.php This guide will allow you
to find out what stuff you've got in your machine, common graphics
manufacturers websites are www.nvidia.com and www.ati.com however some
machines (esp laptops) you'll need to visit the actual vender's website for
drivers (and they're usually about 6 months behind).
