Simple Outlook Rules not working

C

Chaucer

I am currently using Outlook 2007 but I have had this problem with several versions of Outlook. I am currently reworking all my rules so I only have a few of them currently set up. However, I have run into a few odd problems. One being I have a rule set up to to be:

"Apply this rule after the message arrives
with First_mailto:[email protected] in the sender's address
move it to the Other folder"

I am trying to Run it on my inbox and it is refusing to work. I have a couple of other rules set up exactly the same and they work. I have also verified that the email is set up exactly as it is in the rule. I have also tried "First Last", "First.Last", and "First_Last" and none of those work either.

The other problem I am running into is:

"Apply this rule after the message arrives
with Lastname1 or Lastname2 or Lastname3 in the sender's address
move it to the Another folder"

No matter how I rearrange the 3 Last names, the Lastname2 never goes to the correct folder but the other 2 do. I have even set up Lastname2 as its own rule and it still doesnt work. It's a very unique last name and I am spelling it right.

Also, both rules have the checkbox checked.

Is this a bug within Outlook? If not, how do I get these rules to work?

Thanks in advance.

Nobody has a suggestion for this?

Then is it truly a bug in Outlook?

Or no one is able to reproduce the problem.

I'll be honest, for simple rules like that, I've never seen outlook fail
across multiple versions.

If the rule with the three last names fails even when you only have the one
name, that tells me that there are no messages that match that rule. Are
there accented characters in the name? Is it a DBCS name? If you take one
of the messages that you think should be affected, build a rule based on the
Subject of that message and make the rule non-destructive (like set a flag,
set a category, whatever), does it work on that message? If it does, then
it's something with the users name that isn't being seen by the rule.

Chaucer,
Rule are applied to the message, from top to the bottom of the rules list.
Try adding the Rule Action, "Stop Processing More Rules", to your message
rules. You may need to reshuffle your rules in the list, so the messages
gets process first with actions that you want to have the highest priority.

You should also use email addresses as the condition, not the person's name
in the rule.
So a rule would look like this:
When message arrives from (e-mail address removed)
Move to Friend1 folder
Stop Processing More Rules.
