Hi,

I'm running XP Home on a laptop. I have searched high and
low for "Simple File Sharing" but was unable to find
where to disable this function.
When right clicking on a folder and selecting properties,
I only have "Local sharing and Security" and Network
sharing and security"...no mention of the simple file
sharing....
Isn't that supposed to be there in XP Home ?
Thanks for any pointers....

You can't disable Simple File Sharing in XP Home.
That's the way it was 'designed'.

They must have reckoned that in a home environment,
network security was unimportant.

There are possible work-arounds, depending on what you want to do..

Thanks Ron,

I'll just remove the file and printer sharing from my
network connection....that'll do the trick.
I have no need to share files, and want to make certain
that my PC is not open to anyone on the LAN....
The Guest account is already disabled...
