Silverlight djt

I notice that somehow silverlight has been downloaded onto my computer.
What is it?
Do I need it?
Can I uninstall it?
I am using windows xp (home edition)
As I have been haveing a few plroblems I wish to remove anything I do not
need.
As usual I would be grateful for any help and suggestions and give my thanks
in anticipation.

Silverlight was your choice to install.

Silverlight is Microsoft's answer to Flash, i.e., it is used to produce
and view animations.

You don't /need/ Silverlight unless you want to view an animation that
was created with Silverlight.

You can uninstall it if you wish.
