SIIG Ultra/ATA 133 Card & SCSI HDD Compatibility

Unmesh Kurup

Hi,
I have xp installed on a SCSI HDD on a ASUS motherboard. I boughht a WD
80 GB HDD recently along with a SIIG Ultra/ATA 133 PCI card. When I
installed the card and hooked up the new HDD, the system tries to boot up
from the new HDD instead of the old SCSI disk. I tried all sort of settings.
I notice that when the new HDD is connected, the scsi detector shows the old
scsi disk as having ID 0: and as being Disk 1. If the new HDD is
disconnected, it shows up as ID 0: and Disk 0. Is there any way to make the
system boot up from the old SCSI disk instead of the new HDD?

thanks,

Hi, Unmesh.

You might want to try the ASUS newsgroups on Usenet for help from the ASUS
gurus who hang out there. Start with alt.comp.periphs.mainboards.asus.

In my EPoX 8K3A+, I can set my BIOS to boot from SCSI or from the onboard
RAID controller, as well as selecting from HDD-0, HDD-1, SCSI, CD-ROM, etc.
I suspect that the details vary so much from one mobo to the next that
you'll need specific instructions from experts, or details from the
(probably out-of-date) manual, or just trial and error.
