Signatures with multiple accounts

N

Neil

Outlook 2003 appears to use the signature associated with the default
account, not the one associated with the account from which you choose to
send an email (Accounts down-arrow, select an account).

Is this working as designed, or is there a way of automatically using the
associated signature (I've found how to do it manually, using Insert,
Signature)?

Thanks in advance...Neil

You must use Word as the editor to be able to use per account signatures.
You can set them under Tools->Options->Mail Format.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Neil asked:

Cool - next question is that the signature I created appears fully justified
in the editing window (spaced out right across the window). How do I make it
left-justified?

I've tried re-editing the signature in Tools, Options, Mail Format,
Signatures after making the change to use Word as the editor, including
setting the signature paragraph to be left-justified, but in the Word
document launched to edit the email, although it does now change to the
signature associated with the account, the signature is still
fully-justified.

I've tried setting Word as the editor and Outlook 2002 still inserts my "work" signature into messages created with my "personal" account. Any further ideas? Thanks

I have the same problem - two accounts, two signatures. I have made Word 2003 the editor but Outlook will still not automatically add the signature for the second, non-default account
Any more suggestions? Thanks.

Specifics, please: Do you have the signature set for new messages or
replies/forwards or both? Do you have a signature set for your default
account? Does anything at all happen when you switch accounts while
composing a message?

Thanks for your reply, sorry to take so long getting back to this - running like mad to help patch customer PCs etc. etc

As far as I am aware, the signature is set for all messages - new, replies, and forwards
There is no signature for the default account
Nothing happens when I switch accounts while composing a message
The only way to get the signature in is to insert it manually
Thanks for any ideas. Again, apologies for my delay in responding

And the issue is? And the version of Outlook? Outlook editor or WordMail?
The newsgroup interface you are using apparently does not quote earlier
messages in the thread, making your latest message so short on detail that
you risk not getting the answer you're looking for. Please take the time to
quote the original message.

The issue: I have 2 accounts. I want to use 1 signature only with the non-default account. I am using Outlook 2003 and Word 2003 as editor and this signature will not auto-insert unless I have a signature for the default account, which I don't actually want
Thanks for any ideas on this

Set up a signature for each account. The one for the default account can be
nothing but a blank line.

I have the same problem: Outlook 2003, 3 email accounts. I've set a
signiture for one of the non-default accounts, for both new mail and
replies/forwards, and have set a blank signiture for the same two options in
the other two accounts, one of which is the default account. The only
account that will display a signiture is the default account. Any
suggestions? Thanks.

OK, thanks very much.

Is Word your email editor? If it's not, Outlook won't switch signatures when
you switch accounts.

I found that if I use Word as my email editor, I have to wait for it to
open, so I chose not to use it. Hopefully, I haven't missed something here.
So, not using Word means that there is no way Outlook will switch
signatures, and I must enter it in manually with each email then?

That's correct. The per-account signature feature is tied to WordMail. FYI,
once Word opens the first time for WordMail, you won't have to wait for it
to open again.

Do you have Word 2003 installed? That's a requirement for this feature.

I have read the string several times, I have the same issue. I have Outlook 2002 (SP-2) and Word 2002 (SP-2), operating system Windows XP Pro. I have set up 2 email accounts. I have also followed the following path to set word to edit e-mail messages and word to read rich text email messages. This was accomplised by the following
1. On the main outlook screen I went to tools, options, mail format
2. Under the signature section of this tab, I have the following settings
Signature for new mail <none
Signature for replies and forwards: <none
3. I have changed these setting several times, no luck

What do I need to do to fix this? I have searched the knowledge baseand help files for solution, found nothin

Thanks for your help

Sorry Sue
The problem is linking a signiture to a specific email account

1. I have multiple email accounts
2. I would like a specific email account, signature relationship
3. I have not been able to set this up correctly. See my question on what has been tried to this point

Sorry for the lack of detail
