signatures with multiple accounts fails

P

Paul Cartier

I want to assign a signature to each of the email accounts I have.
So I've set this up via Tools |Options|Mail format|Signatures

However when I open a new message and then change the account to send
via (using the Accounts button on the toolbar) the appropriate signature
appears in the new email ...

My default account, and ALL my other accounts have signatures assigned
to them. But all Outlook 2003 does is pick up the signature defined for
the default account every time I open a new mail window ... and this
NEVER changes when the sending Account is changed.

has anyone got any pointers as to how to get this working please ?

Only the default acct will show the selected signature in new mail. Best bet
is to set all accts sigs to None and use the Insert signature menu selection
in each email. Then you don't have to delete the default acct's signature
before applying the correct one. You can even set up boilerplate text for
email text you use frequently: "Thank you for your reply....." You can insert
multiple signature or text in the same email.

Not true and also you shouldn't abuse the signature feature for
boilerplates. AutoText or Outlook 2007's QuickParts should be used for that.

HI Roady,

about "not true " .... are you telling me that what I am trying to do IS
possible.

You said you answered my original post but there is no record of this in
the group ... I cancelled that post several days ago after receiving no
reply!!

He was saying that Mary is, as usual, incorrect.

It is in the newsgroup, as is your original post. Here's Robert's
original answer:

Hi Brain,

thanks: "need to have Word set as your email editor for this" makes it
work ...
... apologies for protracted communications but I could not, and still
cannot, find Robert's original answer!! Complete downloads, global
searches, ordering of the original message etc. etc. etc. all turn up
nothing!
however your succinct text did the trick .... merci beaucoup :)
