no signature when changing accounts from default account

I have multiple imap accounts in my outlook. when I open write new email, I
get the signature assigned to the first account. then when I change
accounts,(that's the account it should be sent from) I lose the signature
(all accounts have signatures for both new and reply). Now even if I'll
change the account back to the first account, the signature will be lost
already. I am using office 2003 which includes word. My email get composed in
word.

Do you have a default signature defined for every account?

yes I set it up in options mail format and I selected the account then I
selected the signature on both new and reply. also I did the same in new mail
under options drop-down email signatures. I think I did it the right way, or
maybe I didn't cuz it's still not working.

I'm afraid I can't help, then. Perhaps someone else will have a suggestion.

Change your e-mail editor to MS Word.
Select Tools, Options, Mail Format tab and then check the 'Use Microsoft
Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages' check box.

This will let you use multiple accounts with multiple signature.

I got it working. I played around with the text on a few accounts. copied the
text into the create new signature. and also I realized that If I don't have
a signature on one account and I change to that one, I can thereafter change
to an account that does have a signature and it's not going to come up
anymore. soo for the one I didn't want any signature I added a "." as a
signature and now I can change to any account (they all have signatures) and
I don't get to any without a signature which would stop the signature from
showing. thanks to all!

Your post above was very helpful. Thanks. I spent hours today trying to
figure out why signatures weren't working, and your solution worked. Seems
to me this is a bug. It's a little too retarded to be a program feature,
even for Microsoft.

Not a bug - if you don't have a sig assigned the signature style needed to
switch is not added to a message, as its not needed. We've recommended blank
sigs since outlook 2003's release - usually 2 dashes since they are the
accepted separator for sigs (per an RFC).

That's a good point. And thank you for your prompt response. But it IS a
bug in the user interface to indicate to the user that messages will be sent
out with signatures when, in fact, they may or may not depending on the
presence of the "blank" signature. Due to the design of the user interface,
the user has no way of seeing a distinction. There are a number of ways to
fix the bug. One way would be to grey out (disable) the portion of the
Options dialog that shows which signatures will be sent with each account
unless the prerequisite "blank" signature is present.
