My brother passed away on Dec.6,2003. Our family decided
to give his computer to our sister since she did not own
one and has children in school that could benefit from it.
The problem is when she tries to sign on, she can't get
past the Windows screen. It asks for a name and password.
He had bought it from a place in Dallas, so it was pre-
owned. He could get past it, but now we do not have the
password and have no clue how to get past this screen so
she can use it. We need to know how to delete the old
information and get her set up. But how do you get past
the initial screen or can you? It is ashame for it to just
sit there and not be used. Her son is a senior in high
school and needs to be able to use it. Plus, this will be
a good way for us to keep in touch. She has 3 children and
can't afford to buy a new program just yet. Please help
us and thank you for your help in this comlex matter.

Hi

You might try to reset the local Administrator
password with one of the methods mentioned here:

Also consider that, if you are unable to completely re-install from scratch
with the original Windows CD, plus install all of the software you need, you
will always be at risk of losing the works in the event of a disk failure,
virus attack, or just making a mistake.
