Sidebyside errors

Since 21 Dec, have been getting a bunch (at least 6 or 12 at a time) of
Sidebyside error messages in the Event Viewer (System). This happens at
every start-up or reboot.

Even ID is either 32 or 59 and typical message is
Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error
was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

The MS link is no help and there is a bunch of people getting this error for
some months back when you Google on this.

I am running WinXP SP2 and all updates on a well speced machine with 2 Gb
RAM. No other problems, but I would like to get rid of this error message
and cause. MS Knowledgebase refers to the same Event ID Numbers but only
for Servers, nothing under WinXP.

Thanks

Worked here - no more SideBySide event errors.

You should investigate which of the programs you run generates these
errors and a) report here; b) tell the author.

This certainly contains the elements of the problem I have but most
references are to Windows Server 2003 or SQL Server and neither do I have.
HOWEVER, it does reference Logitech Setpoint software and I do have that
installed as well as their Quickcam. I had suspected these and had made
sure latest software from Logitech was installed. The camera does call some
XML stuff for video effects so maybe there is something in there. I will
further investigate and report back

Thanks

OK, got rid of the sidebyside error. This seemed to have been a software
conflict between my Logitech Setpoint software (for laser wireless
mouse/keyboard) that has been installed for some time and new installation
of a Logitech Ultra Quickcam.

Re-installing the Setpoint software (v3.1.116) again (with the Quickcam
(v10.5) already installed has removed the Sidebyside error.

Now I have multiple MSInstaller errors in the Application section of Event
Manager
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1001
Date: 2/01/2007
Time: 6:27:36 a.m.

Description:
Detection of product '{31C50740-FC5A-4C6C-B91B-E3B5DFADC824}', feature
'QuickCam' failed during request for component
'{3BBB8098-03C8-48DC-AA83-9B2159E12E0D}'

That looks a little easier to troubleshoot and is definitely Quickcam in
source.

Problem traced to Logitech Setpoint software (for mouse/keyboard Combo).
Re-installing latest (v3.1.116) software has stopped this error.

A check of Logitech forums seems others have similar problems but Logitech
are quite on a solution
