Event Log SidebySide Errors Need Help

Hello:

Please note this is a fairly long post I put in my thoughts about the issue
and posted event log at the end.

I have scoured the web for help with this but only found reference to a web
cam which I do not have.

Anyway I will post below the three different errors I get listed in my event
viewer.

Before I post the errors please note that this has been going on for some
time at least since 03/04/2007 which is where the log file ends.

It does not appear that the errors are actually causing any system problems
just that they are making logs.

I can only think of two programs that may have caused this because they are
the only ones installed in the past year. Since it is not a computer I set
at every day but do maintain for my client I never noticed the errors soon
enough to discover when they started.

The programs possibly in question are
Pay Clock or
Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit
5.0 for Vista.

I lean to Pay Clock because it is a software that requires your network to
be up and running even though it is looking for the local host. When you
start the computer the usb thumb reader time clock tries to connect but has
to wait for the network to get established first then it fires up.

If anyone can think of any other reason for the errors or at least explain
why I am getting them that would be great.

These types of errors occur when a file associated with a SideBySide assembly
in the Windows\WinSxS was not installed correctly. It looks like you are
missing this file:

C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.MFC_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.42_x-ww_dec6ddd2\Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC

I was also getting the event error relating to sidebyside. In my case,
it was caused by malfunctioning of Quicktime update. I disabled
automatic update of quicktime and didn't get the error any more.
However, if I manually update quicktime, the "error" shows up again. I
think it is nothing to worry about. Please advise if I am wrong. Thanks

I have the same issue described by witan. I either could not comprehend or
cannot use the solutions referenced in in the links provided by John Hensley.
The developer blog primarily discusses use of the sxstrace tool, which
apparently is provided only on Windows Vista. I cannot find the file on my
Windows XP Home system. Because this is an XP forum, sxstrace is
inapplicable (unless it's provided on XP Pro). The other link to the forum
was dead.

Unlike witan, I began getting these errors only a week or two ago and
therefore presumed they were related to the July security updates. I haven't
tried disabling the Quicktime update (well, I try, but it always re-enables
itself). I did just install a new Quicktime update and am hoping it will
somehow solve the problem, since there don't seem to be many ideas around
here. (I have another PC running XP Pro, which also has Quicktime, and it is
not having the sidebyside issues described here.)

By the way, I remember getting the same errors about Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC a
long time ago. I don't recall discovering any solution, and at some point
they disappeared.
