Shutting down the PC using Windows XP PRofessional OS

I get this error message "please close all microsoft office applications
before shutting do ne the system"...how do I logoff without the error message?
 
Um, ask in a Windows XP group?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
