Shutdowns...

Greetings,

I have downloaded IE v6.1 and it often crashes with the
error message: Illegal operation performed, IE is shutting
down. I then say ok it closes and I start up again. This
is happening frequently, enough to be an annoyance. Any
ideas what's causing this? Thanks.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
