I had the Easy CD Creator loaded on my computer and since
then my computer will not shutdown. Do you know the
setting that I need to go to in order to fix this. I'm no
computer pro and it's driving me crazy.

Thanks,
Wanda

I don't have Roxio installed and am having the same
problem.

This is with the XP upgrade from 98 on a clean install. -
Same problem pre service pack, SP-1, and SP-2. Also, the
main screen comes up "Windows XP" instead of "Windows XP
Professional".

2000 is Sooo much more stable!

Did 98 shut down on its own or did it just tell you it is
now safe to turn off your computer? If you had to press
the power button to shut it off before than you have an
AT (instead od ATX) power supply which does not support
ACPI. Does your motherboard's BIOS support the ACPI
function? Go to device manager and expand computer and
see if it says ACPI PC. If not check your motherboard
manufactures site for a BIOS upgrade or possibly enter
your existing bios and see if you can enable ACPI.
