I have 2000 installed on an older Tyan motherboard. WHen I
click Start & Shutdown the PC just goes to the "Safe to
turn off your PC" screen. It will not power down. THis PC
is using ATX power supply. Had a patch for this problem
long time ago & can't find it now.

Older motherboards often don't implement the ACPI
spec correctly which is necessary to go to a full
shutdown. My S1832DL was like this.

My advice-live with it. You will waste a lot of time trying to fix it.
It's not worth the hassle.
