shutdown too fast?

My system is shutting down really fast, which is great!

However, before the computer turns off or restarts
(automatically), a bunch of "wait or end now" messages pop-
up about applications and services not responding....

However, this happens really fast, and the computer then
proceeds to shutdown/restart before I can read or tell
what these messages are saying, or press "ok" for the "end
now" option on any of them....

My question is how do I get these pop-up messages to not
show during shutdown (and still retain this fast shutdown
speed)?

THX Kelly, I tried it, but the "problem" still
persists....It seems as if it shuts down super fast, but
before it does, messages popup--I can glimpse words like
ccApp not responding as well as something about Windows
explorer.exe (not responding?)....I also thought I saw the
word "connection" on one of the message headers....but
again, the messages appear so fast consecutively one after
another, and the machine shuts down within seconds that I
don't have time to read them all....If there is a way to
supress these irritating messages, I'd be a happy camper =)

BTW, I had tried optimizing xp using some of the
suggestions on this website:

Could any of these have contributed to this development?

'Welcome.

From a previous post:

Message: "ccApp.exe is not responding" during computer restart or shut down

Situation:
When you restart or shut down your computer, you see the Windows dialog box
displaying the message "ccApp.exe is not responding. . . ." Sometimes,
Windows closes the program and you can restart or shut down. At other times
you must click End Now to close ccApp.exe.

Solution:
This message does not indicate a problem. The main Norton AntiVirus (NAV)
host file, ccApp.exe, is in the process of closing all running services. The
ccApp.exe file can take some time to close, especially if the computer was
shut down before it finished its last startup process.

Be patient. If Windows does not close the application in a few seconds, then
click End Now to close the program and allow the restart/shut down process
to continue.

It may be that the fix is overdoing things. Try unwinding it. The two
relevant lines in Kelly's file are

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
"AutoEndTasks"="1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
"WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="1000"

I suggest instead that you leave it on, and set the normal wait for
Applications, rather than Services lower than the standard 20000 (20
seconds). So edit those two lines in NotePad to be

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
"AutoEndTasks"="0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
"WaitToKillAppTimeout"="3000"

which will give them 3 seconds to tidy themselves up
