I have isolated the problem to a combo USB 2.0 and Firewire card with an ALI
chipset on it. I have tried deleting drivers etc and reloading them, but the
same result. If I unplug the card, the problem goes away. I have tried two
different vendors of ALI chipset (reference design, I think) with thesame
result. Is there something about the ALI chipset?
Thanks,,,

-- Mmm... how old is the card? any chance to bring it back to the vendor and
swap it out for another? Or have it tested at least. Or install it onto
another computer?
-- have you been to the ALI site, extensive information, lots of
certifications ( which doesn't mean it 100% OK) but check with the vendor
whether there is problem with your type of MoBo and chipset.
