G Guest Mar 12, 2005 #1 Windows XP Home Edition, new install, hangs up on shutdown screen. Any suggestions?
M MGGP Mar 12, 2005 #2 Have you looked in the Event Viewer to see if there's any correlation (time-wise) in the problematic shutdown and a program or system event ? Does it happen in Safe Mode ? If not, it's probably a device driver that's causing the problem. Is this system networked ? If so, try logging out before shutting down. Also, you might try terminating all processes that are running in the system tray (next to the clock) before shutdown. Good Luck !
