Windows xp fast shutdown

Is there any way to have windows xp pro sp2 shutdown without closing all
programs? The problem is a webcam software demo program that puts a purchase
nag window on the screen at shutdown and windows cannot close it without
intervention from me to end the program. If I am not there when the computer
does a maintenance reboot it hangs up and does not shutdown. Is there a way
to have windows just ignore the nag screen and shutdown?

No, I can't do that. The webcam program has a watch dog that will restart
windows if the program freezes or system resources get low. Because it keeps
a running log of errors and events the resources may get overused and it
needs to restart the program or the computer. I am using this as a security
camera while away for an extended time. I don't think that hibernation will
accomplish this even if I was able to modify the program to hibernate rather
than reboot.

Yes, it is possible to have windows do a 'force' shutdown for many of the
existing shutdown options. Try first holding the shift key when you click
the shutdown menu item, I'm not sure if this still works in the current
version of windows, as I haven't needed it in a while. Alternately you could
create, bribe me to create, or find a program that tells windows to use this
option.

Actually, ignore all that and do this.
create a new text file with the file extension .bat
open it in a text editor and put the line
shutdown -s -f
you can then run it like a normal program

I tried the shutdown.bat trick and saved the file in the root directory of
"C" then set the web cam program to shutdown and reboot in one hour and it
did, so it seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the help
