Dan

I hope someone here can help. I have installed SP1 for
WinXP Home Version.

After installation my computer does not power off after I
select shutdown.

I get the "Windows is Shutting down" blue screen and it
just sits there and sits there and sits there. I let it
sit for almost an hour and still no power off.

If I shut down manually, I have to pull the plug as the
front panel power switch does not function at this point.

To restart the power switch works fine! ?

I have this software installed: Word Perfect 9, Iomega
Ware for my Zip drive, Norton SystemWorks 2003 and Norton
Anitvirus and Trend Micro PC Cillin AntiVirus.

Thanks,
Dan

Thanks Joe, I tried this yesterday and didn't get any
positive results. I will try the step s in the article,
they look like the same ones I got from the porgram help
files. I'll let you know if I'm successful.

I've done a sysem restore due to SoBig worm attack. I'm
now behind the XP firewall, I got the virus from my ISP!!!
I was on their web page when the Anitvirus started
yelling at me (Trend).

Software environment is pretty minimal right now as I am
re-installing and checking after I install each program.

Software:
Ioware (for Zip paralel drive)
Corel Office 2000, Norton SystemWorks 2003 and Norton AV
2003, Trend Micro PC Cillin 2000, Adobe Acrobat 5 and
printer files for HP Photosmart 1115.

Thanks again
Dan

Mind you,I'm getting the exact same problem. However, I
was busy installing the IE 6 Sp1 when I had to cancel
it. I followed the instructions and the system tried to
restart itself, but to no avail. Ever since then I
cannot switch my computer off, except for a "cold"
shutdown. Even tried a system restore, but it seems not
to have solved the problem.

Someone, please help.

Will
