Win2000pro is freezing,slow,many probs. I have been
trying suggestions from the newsgroup. During online
scan I received the message: "The system process
C:\WINNT\system 32\Isass.exe terminated unexpectantly
with status code 1073807364. Shut down initiated by NT
Authority\system." I got a countdown and then reboot
began. The scan froze as it was on a file "...tasy_Tour-
Razor1911\rzr-ig.001.

Any ideas?

have you checked your computer for viruses and updated windows with the last
updates?
sasser worm can take control of your computer and shut it down if you are
not up to date.

Greetings --

You've apparently contracted the latest worm, W32.Sasser.Worm,
specifically designed to attack people who do not update their
computers promptly and who do not practice "safe hex." In other
words, like Blaster, this worm was developed and distributed _after_ a
patch for the vulnerability was announced and made publicly available.
Further, and also like Blaster, this worm could not affect any
computer whose user had taken the basic precaution of using a properly
configured firewall.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next Shutdown countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also,
make sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any
more intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.

.
My computer automatically updates antivirus weekly. It
also is set to auto update all windows patches. However,
I have a specialized program that requires mssql server
always onto run a database with port 1433 open. All the
firewalls that I have tried to install (including a dsl)
have interferred with it. I have tried to install a
router, again both the router manufacturer and the dsl
and the program developers have refused to help with the
other product when conflicts occurred. Needless to say,
I have begun the process of finding another program for
my specialized need. My last option is now to set up
another computer dedicated only to the internet, and use
a switch to go online with it when necessary. I already
anticipate problems with the port, however, the switch
can be set to port 2 only, which is what I plan to do. I
need the internet for billing purposes.

Did I mention my frustration with various support
departments?
