Does anyone know how to make shutdown command lines like "shudown- a" etc
work in 2000 Professional? My com has got some virus that restarts it often
(sasser, I think) so I have 1 min. to stop the shutdown. Someone told me that
I should go to command prompt then type something about shutdown time 9999
thanks if you can help by the way you can email me at

shutdown is part of the resource kit in Windows 2000 which is why you
cannot find it.

Try the freeware

http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/PsShutdown.html

for the same functionality

The Win2K Resource Kit has SHUTDOWN.EXE and its syntax is .. shutdown /a
to abort a shutdown procedure.

If you knew how to use a News Reader such as Outlook Express you could access the News
Group...
alt.binaries.comp.virus

I posted SHUTDOWN.EXE from the Resource kit for LSASS and RPC/RPCSS shutdown issues.

Post entitled:
SHUTDOWN.EXE for Win2K platforms for RPC/DCOM and LSASS shutdown issues
