My machine is shutting down when I try to run Ad-Aware SE but I am getting a
slightly different message. I get the NT Authority/System but my is not the
RCP, it is DCOM Processor. I have had virus protection software installed
but have just changed it Norton 2005. It does not find any viruses but it
showing "threats" very few of which it can remove. I have also had a
firewall. I install the updates as they appear. I have gone to the MS web
site and run the sasser, blaster, etc. checks. It says none are there. I
have installed all the updates available. Once I actually got the scan to
run but as I was checking items to delete, my pc began to shutdown. I have
gotten something about Sahagent.exe at other times but didn't see anything
about that on the web site. I am a novice and have tried to do all the right
things (safe hex) but I have a problem. My family uses the computer so my
teen ager could have disable something if it was causing her problems. I
just need desperately to get my pc up and running again. Thanks.

Sahagent is spyware. Part of the shop at home network. See this reference:

Are you running the Adaware and virus scan in safe mode? They should be
run from there. First start with Trend Micro's Sysclean. Download it
and the signature file. Then turn off system restore, boot into safe
mode and run Sysclean. Run adaware from there too. You should also be
running several other spyware checking programs in safe mode including
Spybot S&D, CWshredder, and Bazooka. After that's done boot back to
normal mode, and run an AV scan again. Also run at least of the two on
line AV scans, such as Panda and Bit Defender, listed below.

Trend Micro Sysclean

Trend Micro Signature File

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should update
and run them weekly.

Cwshredder

Ad-aware SE

Spybot Search and Destroy

Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner

Pest Patrol Free Pest Scanner

If you’re still having problems after running these then run HijackThis
and post the log to one of the specialty forums, _NOT_ this one.

After your system is clean use these programs to help keep it clean:

Spywareblaster

Spywareguard

IE-SPYAD

For viruses, run at least two of these online scans in addition to your
regular up to date AV program:

Online and Downloadable Virus Scanning:

Panda ActiveScan

Bit Defender Online Virus Scan:

Symantec Online Virus and Security Scan:

TrendMicro:

McAfee Online Virus Scan:

RAV AntiVirus - Scan Online

F-Secure:

I found some information at Pest Patrol that helped me get rid of the
Sahagent. Once it was gone, I was able to run Ad-Aware. What a mess I had.
I still have a few items to clean up but everything is much better now.
Thanks for the help.
