I have an emachines T2792. This has an Intel Celeron 2.7ghz processor. 80gb
HD. I also have a Radeon 9250 video card.
In the past few days, when the system goes to standby, after a period of
time, it will not respond.
Pushing the power button has no effect.
In this situation, the power light is blinking, the disk drive light is on,
the power supply fan is on, the CPU fan is OFF. The CPU feels hot.
The only way to restart the system is to turn off power to the surge
protector and turn it back on. Then push the power button. It then boots up
normally. Also, the CPU fan is then running normally.
The above situation happens nearly everytime the system goes in to standby
and stays there for a long periond of time. For example, an hour or more. If
I simply put in standby, I can bring it back out of stand by with no problem.
Also, periodically, while using the system, It will power down completely.
The power shuts off. Sometimes it will automatically come back on, other
times it will stay off and I have to shut off the switch on the surge
protector and turn back on to restart.
