Have installed win2k pro on an older dell pentium II
computer. Everything works great but on selecting shut
down, you get a prompt saying that it is now safe to turn
off the computer. On win98se, the computer would power
down on exit. Would like to have it the same. Any
suggestions?

.

update your Bios, if you can. or change the power option
in the bios from s1 to s3 (if the original setting is s3,
change it to s1)

On the dells - if win2K is already installed and the APM tab is not
available in the power settings, you can go into the bios and turn on
the acpi function and the next reboot win2k will find new hardware and
install. (so - be sure to log in w/ admin privs for the next reboot).
Then you can go into power settings and the apm tab will be there.
