Shut down takes 5 min

ega

When i attempt to shut down the computer, the power
screen goes away and the computer sits there like i never
told it to shut down. Eventually it shuts down but that
is 5 minutes later, When it first started happening i
thought i might have a virus, but i didnt have a virus
scanner so i just reformatted to fix it, but i noticed it
worked fine until i went to windows update, and after my
download completed it started doing the same thing alll
over again so i know its not a virus, and i also bought
norton 2004.

any help would be great!

Hi,

This behaviour is normal if the system is configured to clear page file at shutdown.

Enable a Proper Shutdown - Download the fix from Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/shutdown.reg

SHUTDOWN WORKS, BUT IT'S REAL SLOW

[Event log corruption may be a main cause]
