Computer Shuts Down Unexpectedly

Hey Team:
My computer shuts down unexpectedly whenever I am on it. It doesn't leave
an error message it just shuts down. I have to restart and it comes up with
no problems but after about 30 minutes it shuts down again. I've looked at
the threads and I don't have issues with the cooling fan, but it could be the
power supply. (I guess) I've had the computer since 2001 and it just started
this.

Could it be at the end of it's shelf life? Do I have to put it out of it's
misery? :) Thanx for all assistance.

7 yrs of service is beyond the expected life for a pc...
Either way, open event viewer for details,&/or,go to run,type:Msinfo32

In my experience, this is most often caused by a power supply on its' last
legs, CPU overheating due to bad fan or overclocking, or a dying
motherboard. In some cases, I have heard of a NIC causing spontaneous
reboots, as well. Hope this helps.

You might want to look at the capacitors on the motherboard to see if
any of them are leaking or bulging. I recently replaced the motherboard
in my computer because it was doing the same thing as yours. Examining
the motherboard disclosed a bulging capacitor near the CPU. Fortunately
it was still under warranty and ASUS sent me a new one very quickly.

IF U WANT TO DISABLE AUTOREBBOT
DO THIS CHANGE IN UR REGISTRY
Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl In the right pane, "AutoReboot" set the Value to 1. To disable set the value back to 0. ..BE CAREFULL WHILE UR DOING IT.
