Shut down- Restary?

Recently, when I select Start, shutdown, my computer restarts and doesn't shut down. Can anyone tell me why or how to correct it? Thank you.
 
I've heard of this problem myself. Recently a computer running XP Home was doing the same. Apparently this can be due to incompatibility in the Power (ACPI) settings and I believe W2K can suffer the same problem

Things to try

1) Is there an more up to date BIOS image for your machine
2) Are all the critical updates installed from the Microsoft site?
