Shut Down Problems

I have a Dell p4 computer with 512 of pc 2100 ram. If i just turn my
computer on i can then turn if off. But if i let it run for a while and
work on word and surf the internet when i try to turn if off i just
hangs on saving settings. I have read some of the other post and there
seams like it could be many things from drivers to system hibernation. I
have turned off all power options. Is there any way to narrow down the
problem. Any Help would be appreciated.
