shut down problem

Hi
shut down problem
when I shut down my computer (Win XP), the shutdowd
procces goes all the way until I get a black screen with
the mouse errow on it (stuck and cannot be controlled with
the mouse).
I hear a little click from the computer box as if it shuts
down but it doesnt it stays stuck forever or until I hold
the on off button for 10 seonds. then it turns off
completly
