Shut Down delay..

Does anyone know why suddenly when I click on START, then the SHUT OFF
button, it takes forever before the "Stand By/Hibernate/Shut Off" Option
appears....
No sooner I click on the start, then the: turn off button, the mouse
cursor turns into an hourglass icon, then freezes up for the longest time...
Any solutions or advice would be greatly appreciated...

Certain versions of Norton Anti-virus cause this behavior.

Cannot shutdown or restart computer or log off users on Windows XP:

If that does not help, you may need to isolate the problem by clean-booting
