Shrinking Taskbar & Stubborn Language bar

Hey Peeps,

I have my taskbar down the left hand side of my screen
and keep the width as wide as the word 'Start' on the
button. Often when i start my computer up however the
taskbar width has reduced and so the word doesn't fit,
although this isn't crucial it is very irritating.

The second irritation is the fact that no matter how many
times i close the language bar everytime i boot my
computer its back again :-(. I've never used it and
think it spoils the look of the taskbar, again it not
crucial but just very irritating.

If you can help on either of the above irritations i
would be very grateful
