Is this possible to do with Windows Explorer? I'd like
to have files arranged by size, irrespective of folder, from the
largest to the smallest so I can choose larger ones
for deletion to free up disk space.
Or do I need a utility to do this?
Help much appreciated!

Windows XP lack this feature. However, you can download this small utility to
accomplish the task.

http://foldersize.sourceforge.net/using.html

Download and install the utility but Folder Sizes will still not be
available in Detail view. Right-click on any Column Heading in Detail view
and you will notice a new feature called Folder Size. Make a check Mark. You
will notice a new column having Folder Sizes. Click the "Folder Size" column
heading to sort the folders size wise.

Hope this help, let us know!

Hi RajKohli-
Works very well! Thank you!
But is there any way to get a listing of just file sizes that
can be ordered from largest to smallest, without need to specify
folders?
Thanks.

You can do this by doing a little trick:

1. Click Start - Search
2. Click All Files and Folders
3. In "All or Part name of the file" type *.*
4. In Look In box set the location where you want to make a search.
5. Click the search button.

Window will search for all the files, folders and sub-folders and files
within folders of that particular location. Then you can sort them by size.

Hope this help, let us know!
