Show In Groups Broken?

I had the default view for My Computer set to 'Show in Groups'
but I didn't like the alphabetized grouping. The groups were somehow
categorized into local drives and network shares and so on.

That categorized view of My Computer is gone and Show in Groups
will only show everything in an alphabetized group, A, B, C, and so on.
Noting I have observed how to set up categories for 'folders' but I
am talking about the default view for My Computer.

I would really like to get My Computer back to a categorized view
and haven't been able to find documentation or figure out how I can
reset what I had set up.

Can anybody explain how to resolve this?
 
I saw this very same thing, right after upgrading my main system to
2180. Best I remember, the view was set to "Name" and I just set
it back to Type & Show in Groups.
 
When using show in groups try sorting by the type column instead of by the
name column. Works much better and groups everything nicely. To get rid of
show in groups: right click in the my computer window, arrange icons by,
uncheck: show in groups.
