Should I reinstall Windows XP Professional?

Hi, I've had problems where after POST a reinstall process
was automatically started a few days ago when I cut the
power less than a minute into the process. Everything's
all right, but my video driver doesn't work and the techs
at the Windows XP Video newsgroup appear to be stumped. I
was wondering that if I were to reinstall Windows XP
Professional I would lose any of my personal data. Also,
would I have to update Sevice Pack 1 and other updates
again? I'm even wondering if I installed Service Pack 2
that this might fix the problem. Any help at all would be
appreciated!!

Kelly,

I would do a repair installation of Windows XP without thinking,
after such an event. Who knows what you have on your computer
now?

Boot from a full retail Windows XP installation CD, first select
to install Windows XP, only then select to repair the existing
installation, which should be found and displayed.

Then install Service Pack 2.
