How does one create a desktop shortcut in Vista? e.g. I would like to create
a shortcut to open the broadband connection (DSL) to the Internet instead of
clicking START > Connect to...?
Thanks.

Control Panel|NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER
Click the "manage network connections" link
Right-click on the connection desired and click "create shortcut"

An error may appear saying that a SC cannot be created there, do you
want it on the Desktop.
Click YES or OK. Copy or move that shortcut from the Desktop to
another folder if desired.

if you know the addres where connect, start IE and meke the connection
once you have the right link at the addres bar, copy it with right mouse
button
close tabs and press right mouse button into a free desktop area, and choose
new shortcut
when sreen ask for location, press right button and paste the link copied in
previous step

pick next, put the name you whish to appear under the icon and finish to
close all steps

go to Start, go to your ISP connection name, right click on it, and then a
sub-menu with "send to", then "shortcut to desktop"

Right click "connect to" and drag onto Desktop.
