Shortcuts not opeing properly

I find that many of the shortcuts on my desktop do not
give a full size page display when opened. They are ok
after I maximise but only about 2/3 size until then.

So far I cannot find any settings that I should change to
cure this. Can anyone help?

Under properties (right click) Run: Maximized.
