Shortcut For New Dial-Up Connection

Whenever I use the New Connection Wizard to set up a dial-up connection to
the internet, it will not allow me to create a shortcut of the connection on
the desktop. The error message says: "Unable to create the specified
connection. This can be caused by insufficient memory or not enough disk
space".

I have plenty of memory (1.52 GB) and disk space (20.8 GB free)...

Does anyone know what I need to do? I am using Win Xp Pro, SP 2.

Thanks.

Control Panel > Network Connections. Drag the created dial-up connection
onto the desktop.

Hi, Detlev.
My problem is that I get the error message when I try to save the
newly-created dial-up connection. As a result the Network Connections
window is blank...

Did you scan the system for malware?
Any Norton/Symantec products installed?
Are more detailled entries in the event viewer?

Detlev:
* Yes, I scan daily for malware;
* Yes, I have Norton Antivirus installed;
* I don't know how to use Event Viewer.

Thanks.

Okay.

Not okay. Symantec software is well known to cause all kinds of
problems. If I were you, I'd uninstall any Norton software - to disable
is not sufficient in most cases.
* I don't know how to use Event Viewer.

Start > Run: eventvwr.exe

Have you ever been able to do this on that machine? If the answer is
yes, have you installed an service packs or updates recently
