Sharp Organizer problems

Bob Rasmussen

Morning, all...

I have just purchased a Sharp OZ-590A and am having problems installing
against Microsoft Outlook 97. Have a missing dll trying to get Outlook
Version.
Since I am not using MS Outlook, can I change to Outlook just for using
the Organizer? The Organizer install does not indicate what Outlook
version it will accept. I am running Windows 98SE. Where would I get
just Outlook for this purpose? I'm also posting this to the Outlook 97
newsgroup.

Thanks for any responses...Bob

What do you mean by "Just Outlook" as opposed to Outlook 97? BTW, this is
the proper newsgroup for questions about any version of Outlook (not Outlook
Express, which is a separate program) -- if you are finding newsgroups for
specific versions, those are old and you will probably not get any answers
there.

Evening, Jocelyn...

Perhaps my posting was confusing, so let me restate my problem.
I am running Windows 98SE. I use Outlook Express 6 for my
email. I've installed Microsoft Office 97 Professional Edition which
installed Outlook 97. Apparently, the Sharp Electronic Organizer
requires a different version of Outlook. Buried in their documentation
they indicate that I must be running Microsoft Outlook 98/2000/2002/2003
to utilize the synchronization software. Are there any provisions for
changing the version of Outlook without altering the rest of the MS suite
or OS? Incidentally, you are correct...the Outlook97 newsgroup was
inactive.

Thanks....Bob

You would have to buy and install a used (and legal, of course) copy of
Outlook 2002 or an earlier version -- the current version of Outlook, 2003,
only runs on Windows 2000 and XP. Also, by installing a different version
of Outlook than the rest of Office, you may lose some interoperability
between Outlook and the other Office programs.

Hi Bob

I have a few spare licences of Outlook 2002 - I accumulated them after
buying several PocketPC's - if you would like me to send you one let me know
(by replying here and I'll email you directly)
