Outlook express \ problem with organiser

I have a Sharp OZ-590A organiser to which I used to download contacts
etc. from Outlook on my computer. I have recently installed Office 2007
professional and the organiser is not compatible with the more recent
version of Outlook in Office 2007. I can no longer download the contacts.
I have a copy of office 97 SR1 which would have a suitable version of
Outlook but I don't want to sacrifice my Office 2007 installation to get
the 97 version of Outlook. Could I separate the Outlook program from the
Office 97 CD and could I install it without removing Office 2007 i.e.
have two versions of Outlook on the computer?
If not, is there a way to remove Outlook 2007 without affecting the
other Office programs?
Possible solutions would be appreciated.

You can not have two versions of outlook on the same computer. You could
uninstall office 2007, use a custom install of 97 to install just outlook,
then install office 2007 using the custom option and not install outlook. I
think I'd find another way to add contacts to the organizer though,
especially if you actually use outlook for more than just syncing to the
organizer. Outlook 97 is awful, especially compared to outlook 2007.

And, in fact, cannot be used for sending mail with any ISP requiring SMTP
authentication.

Thanks for the advice, in fact when I checked the manual for the
organiser I found out that it requires Outlook 98/2000/2002/2003 so my
copy of MS Office will not work! I only use Outlook for the contacts at
the moment so your suggestion could work for me, at least for the time
being. All I need now is a copy of one of the versions of Outlook
mentioned above; Any ideas where I can get one from?

Thanks again

eBay is a good plaace to start. Were I looking, I'd find the newest version
I could afford.

I'd definitely avoid 98 or 2000 - 2002 is better but 2003 or 2007 is highly
recommended. I'd also look for the full office suite, not just outlook.
