Sharing works on web but not in Outlook using Live Mail

I am able to view another Hotmail user's calendar that has been shared with
me only if I log into Hotmail on the web, but it's not syncing that calendar
to my Outlook, and won't let me add it from within Outlook. The message I
get when I try to do that is "unable to display the folder. your profile is
not configured to support this operation for this user."

The other Hotmail user is having the same problem viewing my calendar - he
can see it if he logs into Hotmail/MSN, but not in Outlook.

We are both using the subscription Live Mail service so have the most recent
version of Outlook. Neither of us is running behind an Exchange server.
What are we doing wrong?

Thanks.

It would surprise me to no end if you could share any folder hosted by
Hotmail.

But this is exactly what Microsoft says we are supposed to be able to do,
and we have done so. I'll alert the media and you can be suitably surprised.

The problem is, it just won't sync to Outlook Live.

My point is that the server must do the sharing. Outlook doesn't have that
ability whatsoever. Therefore, you must be logged into the server in order
to see server-hosted folders.

ability whatsoever. Therefore, you must be logged into the server in order

But with Outlook Live, i AM connected to the server. The server status even
says that my mail and calendar and contacts are "connected." I'm paying for
this privilege with the Outlook Live subscription service. So is the other
person with whom I want to share calendars.

The Outlook Connector help says:

"With Microsoft Office Outlook Connector, you can share your calendar with
other people, view the calendars of people who share with you, and copy
events between calendars. With shared calendars, you can see the times others
are free or busy when you schedule a meeting.

The person you share with must have a Microsoft Hotmail or MSN mail account
to view your calendar. Before others' calendars can appear in the Calendar
view, they must first invite you to share their calendars, and then you must
add their calendars to your calendar."

So, why isn't Outlook Connector syncing the shared calendars?

Doesn't anyone from Microsoft monitor these boards?

Thanks,

Vanessa

I don't know enough about Outlook Live to debug the issue. Since you may
MSN for the privilege, they should be helping you.

Nope. It's peer-to-peer.
